Mission Statement:  Through innovative, exciting, and engaging concerts, FBSO strives to bring a diverse array of music to all ages in Fort Bend County and beyond.
Vision: The Vision of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra is to become a bedrock arts organization in Fort Bend, leading the way with innovation, education, and outreach.

Founded in 1992, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra enriches the lives of Fort Bend residents and the Greater Houston area with live symphonic music. The full-size orchestra, complete with brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion, consists of approximately 50 talented and dedicated volunteer musicians primarily from the Fort Bend area including Sugar Land, Stafford, Missouri City, Richmond, Katy, Rosenberg and Fulshear.

The symphony began when local musicians agreed that residents should have the opportunity to hear live symphonic music right here in Fort Bend County . Through community support and volunteerism, that vision quickly became a reality. Today, the orchestra continues its original mission. Added benefits include providing qualified performers and soloists the opportunity to appear locally, fostering music education through our Marielle Ogletree Young Artist Concerto Competition, and other special musical events.

FBSO has distinguished itself through its focus on presenting quality classical and popular music at an affordable price. We are especially proud to foster local student musicians through sponsorship of an annual Marielle Ogletree Young Artist Concerto Competition. Winners receive cash prizes as well as the opportunity to perform with the Orchestra. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, FBSO relies on the generous financial support of our patrons, businesses and community to make these performances possible.

In addition to our regular concert season at the Stafford Centre, FBSO presents free concerts to the community each year at locations such as Sugar Land Town Square. The Orchestra also performs at other venues in Fort Bend County. Over the years, FBSO has performed live at the Stafford Centre with legendary recording artists like B.J. Thomas, Christopher Cross, Kansas and Ray Price.

FBSO is truly a treasure for Fort Bend County. Few communities can boast of having their own symphony orchestra. We hope you will join us in experiencing the beauty, joy and creativity of music.
